"Am I dreaming? Oh no, haze is back!" Waking up…
The weather in Singapore is just pure hot hot hot! Isn’t it? With the crazy weather, especially during the night, you might consider getting yourself an air conditioner so you sleep well through the night without waking up in sweat and frustration. Here are types of aircon you might want to consider, with your preference in mind before buying one.
The split air conditioner is of the most common types of aircon used in Singapore. It includes one outdoor unit which houses the compressor. And it may have one or multiple indoors unit, where the warm air is cooled and blown out into the room. Both indoor and outdoor units are connected via pipes and cables. The pipes transport the refridgerant from one unit to the other.
Split Aircon usually take up lesser space indoor as compared to the other aircon, and it has the flexibility for zoning or heating and cooling individual rooms, compressor and heat exchanger can be stationed farther away, rather than solely on the other side of the same unit like the portable Aircon.
Recommended: To people who have big families and constantly have different group of people in the room. This is to make sure they can on aircon at the same time.
The portable aircon is an aircon which contains everything; from compressor to evaporator and cooling coil and etc inside one single box. The Portable Aircon just like the name speaks for itself, it can move from room to room. It has an air hose which has to be place out to the window to blow out the hot air generated during the cooling process. It is relatively noisier than Split Aircon. The compressor uses air to exchange heat, in the same way as a car or typical household air conditioner does. This helps to dehumidify the air as it cools it. It collects water condensed from the cooled air and produces hot air which must be vented outside the cooled area; doing so transfers heat from the air in the cooled area to the outside air.
Recommended: To people who don’t usually use all rooms at once, maybe when you are in the bedroom, you can station it there, otherwise, when in the studying room, you can move the portable aircon.
